It’s holy week! This semester is FLYING by. I go home in less than a month. crazy!
I love easter. it is by far my favorite holiday. i love Jesus and who i am through him (as a result of what he did on the week that we’re celebrating now about 2000 years ago), but i also love baby animals, springtime, pastel colors, and jelly beans.
this holy week has been wonderful. my parents were here for palm sunday, and then monday was FREEZING (not wonderful. it is april and i’m in nashville), but yesterday got nicer and today was beautiful. also, last night we had a night of prayer and praise that was just… exactly what i needed to remind me of my priorities, and what Christ did for me. sometimes i forget that.
one of the songs last night (i honestly have no idea which one, this comes up in a lot of songs) spoke of Christ as our cornerstone. i’ve always liked that image- the idea that Christ was there first, and God uses us only in line with him. in fact, cornerstones set the tone and direction for the whole building- so our lives are buliding on top of an already existing, already planned story that Christ is defining and directing. finally, cornerstones secure the foundation of a building. i can’t describe what this means any better than Isaiah already did:
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.” (Isaiah 28:16)
so as you’re moving from the jubilee of palm sunday to the darkness of good friday to the eternal celebration of easter, remember that you have a sure foundation.
